Happy Halloween!

So we finally made it ToT'ing!  And for the first year EVER, we had a really good experience.  Both boys took late naps in the afternoon, ate a good dinner, and were both raring to go by 6:30.  Zac did great and lasted about 30 minutes and Deacon went for almost 2 hours (with about a 20 minute break to go home and check in with dad).  After the mini-break, Grandma took Zac to bed and Damien came back out ToT'ing with us.  We recently made some new friends in our neighborhood and their house was one of two really scary houses- Deacon didn't want to even go up and ring the doorbell without daddy- hence the pictures of Deacon looking skeptical approaching the one house.

All-in-all, a very successful Halloween for our Buzz Lightyear and Boo Boo Chicken.

Deacon wanted to scare Grandma, so he rang the doorbell, ran to hide and then jumped out at her- stupid light post is in the way so the picture is focused on that and not on them... but I liked the picture since you can see the candy in the bowl flying out :)

THE BEST TEAM IN NATOMAS!

I cannot begin to say how proud I am of our team.  We played the most horrible team today - they were rude & nasty... and acted as though our kids were playing a professional game of soccer.  Not only did they laugh at a player on our team after getting hurt, they laughed at Deacon when he went through the wrong tunnel at the end of the game... and they were mad at their players when the kids missed goals.  I was livid. The other team had all 10 players there and we had a few sickies not show up- so we had half the players.  But yet, we WON!!!  Our kids were so good and played so well- I'm so proud of them.

Anyways... funny story-
Deacon was SO tired by the 4th quarter and wanted out of the game... but we had one injured player and one player unable to go back in for other reasons.  Anyways, when we told him he couldn't come out of the game he started crying on the field... and then I screamed that he'd get M&M's if he played for 5 more minutes.  Well, as you can see from the next picture- he was VERY much on board with that.

Boo at the Zoo

Last night we did Boo @ the Zoo with Tanier, Sundi and Mason.  We had SO much fun and we were definitely the best dressed adults there!  We were often times treated as though we were workers- so all these kids kept asking to have their pictures taken with us (Captain America and his girlfriend were, by far, the most popular, with Damien a close third).  The kids had a great time together and loved seeing all the costumed kids!

(and yes, I'm wearing my Uggs... don't all California witches wear Uggs?  Duh!)

Sitting up

The other day at Zac's 7 month appointment, his pedi made note of the fact that he still isn't sitting up unassisted.  Until this point I really hadn't given it any thought- mainly because I'm too tired to give it much thought... but aside from that, I think I figured that if he's crawling, there really isn't much need to be sitting up unassisted.  Normally if we were to sit him up, he gets annoyed and flings himself onto his stomach so he can start crawling around the living room... I think it's logical that he's crawling so well- he spends all day during the school week with a bunch of kids who are mobile- and he wants to keep up with them!

Anyways- so the doctor suggested we put him in a laundry basket to help him sit up unassisted- so we did and he had a good time.  But in doing this exercise (along with a few other suggested 'sitting up exercises') we learned that he actually does sit up really well unassisted- he just doesn't last long because he wants to crawl!).

Pumpkins

I love these pictures...

The pumpkin with the "normal" looking face is the first pumpkin we carved... I did it myself under the direction of Deacon.  The pumpkin on the right, however, is the one that Deacon carved- I let him have access to the pumpkin carving tools and let him do what he wanted.  He needed some help... but did a pretty good job by himself.  I thought he was just randomly making shapes in the pumpkin- and then slowly realized he was making two large (and oddly shaped eyes) along with a nose... I realized this after he asked me to make a "big squiggly mouth."

Anyways- Damien did take quite a few pictures of us carving the pumpkins but those pictures are on the other camera and I just honestly don't have the energy to get those pictures onto my computer right now... so those can wait for another day.  Until then, enjoy the final product... spooky candles and all :)

Halloween Party with the kiddies

Had a great time at the Halloween party.  I think kids in Halloween costumes are hilarious... they crack me up.  I think we have some of the cutest kids in the 916... and I'm so not biased :)

Zac's first time swinging... and the realization that I take too many pictures.

Just a side note- I cannot stand the feeling I get while swinging... and Deacon wanted to have a contest - who can swing higher.  I thought I was going to throw up... but I wanted a picture because it was one of the first times I've been able to actually fit into a swing since I've had kids.  Before my surgery I couldn't fit into the swing... so I was just so excited- but sick at the same time, LOL.
