Deacon's Hot Wheels Birthday Party

We seriously have some of the most amazing friends... Almost everyone we invited to Deacon's party showed up and we all had so much fun. There were over 20 kids there- I honestly didn't realize we knew that many children, LOL.

All the kids were well behaved and spent the entire 2 1/2 hours running around like mad... well, except Zac- who spent the majority of the time sleeping in Theresa's arms.

Annoyed with mama

Damien and Deacon went to some geek fair in the bay area today so it was just me and the baby all day. I took this opportunity to play with my brand new camera (yes, I finally saved up enough money and bought it... and I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO happy) and do a photo shoot with the cutest baby in the 916.

As you can tell, Zac was not as excited about the new camera... in fact, one might think he was slightly annoyed with the whole ordeal- I finally got the hint after he spit up on his cute "little peanut" shirt and on his quilt that Grandma made him.

Just because...

Just because I thought this picture was super cute... OH MY GOSH I JUST LOVE HIM!!!

Happy Birthday Deacon!

Wow... 4 years. You're no longer a baby- and that is becoming more and more evident every single day. You're a little kid now... and you are so amazing. At this moment 4 years ago, you were merely 3 hours old- you spent the first 3 hours just soaking it all in. I've never seen a more alert little boy- every time I held you, you would just stare up at me. You finally fell asleep after 6 hours- this should have been my first clue that you were never going to be the great sleeper I so desired.

You are so smart- you definitely take after your daddy. As much as I try to get you to love music and dance as much as I do, your passion is most certainly in learning new things. You are so stubborn- but that just means that you rarely give up if you want something badly enough. I still look at you as though you're a baby- and when you do things like write your name, say something in Spanish, or tell me that 2+2=4, I am reminded that you're growing up way too quickly.

I wish I could go back in time and enjoy you more... snuggle you more, appreciate your slobbery kisses more, stare at your beautiful brown eyes more. There were so many things happening in your first 4 years of your life that we often forgot to slow down... and by the time we did you weren't my little baby anymore.

You are such a mama's boy... and I love that. I still melt when you say you love me... tonight when I put you to bed you said, "mama, I love you door to door, ceiling to floor and so much more... more than you love me." I love that you still love snuggling with me from time to time- though most of the time you're way too busy for such things.

For your birthday this year you asked for two things- a cat and an ear piercing. Unfortunately for you, your dad and I got you neither... but you did get a new computer, legos, a desk and a new book. Fortunately for us, you were super excited about the new computer- but that doesn't surprise me at all... you are your fathers son.

So my little boy... I love you more than anything- happy birthday.

Birthday Eve

My baby turns 4 tomorrow and I am absolutely without words... well, ok, I have words... but it's so hard to describe how I'm feeling. 4 years old just seems so grown up- he's no longer a baby or a toddler. Just amazing...

Uncle Derek sent Deacon the coolest coloring workbook- it has TONS of pages with fun games, spaces to color, etc... It's a really neat coloring book- I've never seen anything like it. Deacon was totally stoked about it. I thought the gift was neat, but was really impressed with the handmade wrapping paper!!! Good job Uncle Derek- we love you!

Aside from the fact that Deacon was an absolute moose compared to Zachary, I think they have some similar traits. I was looking through Deacon's baby pictures and couldn't believe how big he was at 2 months!- Zac is such a little peanut!

{the top two pictures are of Zac and the bottom two are of Deacon... all 4 are taken at the same age}

We did it!

I thought this picture was so cute- Deacon wanted Zac to sit on his lap and snuggle while he watched t.v. I didn't think Zac would be too thrilled with the idea, but he sat there for quite some time! I just love these boys!!!

Ok, I know it sounds ridiculous, but I'm so proud of us!!!- this was our first full weekend as parents of 2 with no help :) We had such a nice weekend... though Damien and I both looked at each other around bedtime tonight and agreed that going to work tomorrow sounds like a nice "break" (LOL).

This morning Deacon and I went to the pool with some friends of ours... and we both came home with a sunburn {bad mommy}. Thankfully Deacon just got a little rosy on his cheeks, while I am really burned on my back. He was so exhausted by the time we got home that he slept for almost 3 hours!!!- this is SO unlike him... a typical nap lasts about an hour (tops).

Grammy and Grumpy

Deacon marking off days till Grammy and Grumpy arrive.

As can be evidenced by several of Amanda's recent posts, my parents were in town during the past 2 weeks. It was definitely a change in many ways... this time it was my family, not Marty... and it was only for 10 days instead of 2 months.... and for the latter, I am sad, because I miss them now. For the first 2 months of Deacon's life, we lived within 2 hours drive of my parents. Not so much now. Zac was 2 months old before he finally met Grammy and Grumpy (as Deacon calls them).

While they were here, we went to a plane museum and a train museum. We saw jelly beans and they saw grapes. We had fun in the sun and celebrated several celebrations early. As I drove them to the airport the other day, I realized that Zac will be 9 months old when he sees them next. Not sure what to think about that.

We miss you, Grammy and Grumpy.

I still don't get tired of saying that... "brothers." Maybe it's because I grew up as an only child, but having two kids still amazes me. And seeing my first baby with a baby brother just melts my heart. Yes, I'm exhausted- and I'm really looking forward to the day when I can sleep a bit longer than 6 hours a night... but I just love these two boys, I can hardly stand it.

Visiting cousins

Last night we had Damien's cousin, IJ and his wife, Laila over for a cookout... Deacon had SO much fun with IJ- who shares his love of cars. The two of them had a lot of fun building ramps and crashing the cars... Deacon even cried when they left- it was so sad... he, however, calmed down when I promised him one of Laila's homemade chocolate cookies.

Even sader than them leaving is the fact that we only took a few pictures the whole night- and none of IJ and Deacon!

Happy Birthday DEACON... almost :)

Grammy & Grumpy wanted to throw Deacon a birthday party since they're leaving right before his actual birthday... he was so excited to wake up to a Spiderman birthday party :) He got a Spiderman birthday cake and a couple new Spiderman toys- which he played with all night!

It is, however, kind of confusing to him that he's not actually 4 years old yet...

(wow, 4 years old... I cannot believe I almost have a 4 year old- it makes me so teary just thinking about it!)

More water pictures...

This time I got in the pool with Deacon... he begged and I figured, if Damien and my mom can do it, I can do it too. And despite having warmed up in hundred degree weather, the water was still pretty cold.

For my dad

Just wanted to show you how the garden is looking! We've got two tomatoes- which made Deacon REALLY happy. We've also finally got one healthy looking strawberry... the rest of the strawberry plants have yielded sickly looking berries. Our peppers and bean plants are doing great... and the cucumbers and melon plants are looking good but have made little progress.
