Mommy & Zachary

I'm still playing catch up and I'm still trying to tell myself that I will, indeed, someday, completely catch up here on this blog... and that someday I'll get back to updating it at least once a week.  Dream big, Amanda, dream big.

Zachary and I went out to the bay area and had a nice day together... Clearly we like taking pictures of ourselves in the process :-)

I find it so pathetic that I seriously did not take my camera out until our last two days in Ohio!  We had such a great time- our boys sure do LOVE their cousins.  As much as Deacon and Zac adore their grandparents, nothing compares to cousin love... I super love watching them interact with their cousins- it's so sweet.

Deacon thought Uncle Matt was being SO bad and so therefore thought this was absolutely hilarious... all the kids were skipping rocks into the bay and Uncle Matt got the brilliant idea to start throwing in these huge rocks- and for some reason my dad (Grandpa) thought that he shouldn't be doing this... which, of course, made Matt want to do it even more- and then made the kids think it was even funnier since Grandpa was saying "no" and Uncle Matt was being defiant :)

Zachary ate spaghetti and meatballs nearly every day we were there... and I think most days he ate spaghetti and meatballs for lunch and dinner.  I can't blame him much- spaghetti sauce from Cedar Villa is pretty amazing... but he was the only one who was abe to consume that much of it over the weeks time.

Happy Fathers Day!

I asked the two older boys... Why do you love your daddy so much?  The answers came to them immediately- no thinking necessary.

Last "catch up" post!

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa, Deacon got season passes to Six Flags... and the only reason I agreed to this was because after Disneyland, he {finally} agrees to ride more than the carousel.  But that doesn't mean he's not nervous as all get up before the ride starts... check out the following pictures to see my point (this is the first time Logan and Deacon had ever ridden a ride like this, by the way):
Picture #1... nervous smiles while being belted in.

Picture #2... the ride has started and they are NOT pleased.

Picture #3... faster now and Logan is showing signs that he might be having fun.  Deacon?  Not so much.

Picture #4... SUCCESS!  Both boys are having fun!!!
This is now their absolute favorite ride at Six Flags- they tend to get sort of hooked on their favorite rides, which means they ride the same ride over and over and over again.  I think on this visit alone, they road this ride 8 times.

"Field Day" at Carden... Deacon dominated this race- his team was pretty far behind until he got his bum on this thing (whatever it is) and went to town.  He was so proud of himself!

We did a combo party with Deacon's friend, Griffin, from school... the kids had a blast!

This was the first time Zac really got into a bounce house... and lucky for Damien (said sarcastically), Zachary's favorite bounce house was the one with the huge slide.  So being the great dad he is, Damien climbed those obnoxious and hard to maneuver stairs up the slide probably 50 times!- but judging by the looks on Damien's face, I'm guessing he didn't mind TOO much :)

SO!  There you have it... my favorite pictures from the last 5 months!  Bare with me while I get the hang of the whole blog thing again- I really am going to try to do this right!  So next up.. Ohio!

Playing catch up...

So I don't really have any desire to go through the past 5 months worth of pictures and do a new post for each different event... so I went through iphoto and chose my favorite pictures and decided I'll do one or two posts with some pictures and a few captions.  I decided I would actually do some "real" blog posts starting with our trip to Ohio and work my way up until the present.

The thing is... I actually rarely grab my camera anymore.  I don't know why that is, but honestly I've grown ok with this.  For a long time I had my camera with me 24/7- I was always thinking about how I could best fit my camera in the bag I was carrying... and one day I got tired of doing that, so I stopped.  But after some time I've realized that I'm missing some fun stuff... and as I look back on these moments I'm sad I didn't capture more of those amazing moments.  So my goal is to find a better balance in all the hustle and bustle of a new year...

Zac has a new found interest in Beyblades... these, of course, were purchased for Deacon, but Zachary LOVES the t.v. show and has managed to dig out every single Beyblade that we own and plays with them non-stop.  Essentially a Beyblade is a spinning top... and you "battle" each other.  So these pictures are of Zachary and Nana having a few Beyblade Battles
"3-2-1 LET 'ER RIP!"

SO much fun to battle with Nana!!!

These two pictures were taken at a birthday party while they were being read a story.  Deacon was so sweet holding Zachary's hand- and then took it to a new sweetness level when he sat there rubbing his hand.  Oh the tears that were in my eyes... I love when Deacon chooses, on his own, to be a supportive big brother to Zachary- and while these moments are not too often, when they happen, I appreciate more than words can say.

Zachary LOVES this book... even looking at the cover is enough to send him into hysterical laughter- but when Nana reads him the story? The kid is in fits... he laughs the entire time the book is being read to him.

We're here... kinda!

So tonight a big wave a guilt overtook me as I was laying in bed... I haven't updated this blog in a long time.  And while I don't think I have a ginormous group of followers crying themselves to sleep every night due to the lack of attention my blog is getting... I do know that I have grandparents who are probably kinda not too thrilled due to lack of pictures.

Well, I don't have time to do a huge post with lengthy text and photo captions (it's almost 1 a.m.), but I do have time to post some of my favorite pictures from the past few months.

The above picture is me begging Deacon to smile for the traditional "desk" picture on his first day of SECOND GRADE!... and the bottom picture is the look he really wanted to give me.

Our new house has a clubhouse pool that is the most under utilized pool on the face of the earth... we definitely take advantage of the fact that the pool is included in our rent and the fact that no one is ever there!
Zac started the summer being very timid of the water... we could barely get him in the water at any given moment.  And then one day I thought of buying him a floatie... and since that day, he's been in the water non-stop.  He LOVES his floatie- and loves being able to use his floatie all on his own... he'll just kick himself around the whole pool loving his independence.

(I am honestly hoping I can motivate myself to do this more often from here out!)

LA trip days 3 & 4

Day 3 we spent the day at Disneyland and had a great time... the boys loved all the rides and we got on them SO quickly because the forecast had called for rain and the skies were very grey.  It really only rained for about 20 minutes and they didn't close down any of the rides during that time.

Day 4... we just did a bit of souvenir shopping and then made our way back to Northern California.

Um, this kid is the worst driver EVER!!!  I was so motion sick in just the short 7 minute ride around the track.  Blech!

Such a brave boy on Splash Mountain!
